In May of 2012, Patricia M. Clarke sent us an e-mail telling us that she had served in the Army during Vietnam and that her name was not on our Vietnam War list. We sent her a form and she graciously filled it out.
This is the information she wrote:
Patricia M. Clarke attended Hackensack High School from 1959 to 1962 when she graduated. Patricia M. Clarke joined the service in 1966 and served until 1968 in the U. S. Army Nurse Corps. Basic training occurred at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. She was then stationed at
Ft. Polk, in Louisiana, until February of 1967. She was deployed to the 91st Evacuation Hospital in Tuy Hoa, Vietnam for six months and then
8th Field Hospital in NhaTrang, Vietnam for the last six months of this tour.
She returned to the United States shortly after the
1968 Tet Offensive and was stationed at Valley Forge General Hospital in Pennsylvania until she was discharged in August of 1968.
Patricia M. Clarke rose to the rank of 1st Lieutenant during her service.
Let us never forget the Nurses' sacrifice.
